The option is still there when I boot up the computer. The files are still on the HDD, but it doesn't appear in the uninstall list.
I installed it to a folder within my C:/ drive which is indeed the windows drive.
You will need to edit your boot.ini file assuming we're talking XP. In Vista it will be your BCD.
For XP
Start > Run "sysdm.cpl"
Advanced tab > Startup and recovery > Settings > System startup > edit
Remove the line that refers to ubuntu (is obvious). Save. Restart computer and the boot menu should have vanished or Ubuntu wont be displayed if you still have a multi boot setup.
BACKUP the boot.ini FIRST! (Same as above, but click "save as" in notepad and add a "_temp" or something to the end of the file). Also have your XP CD handy if you screw up, as recovery console will save your life with FIXboot.
For Vista. I don't know how to edit the file manually. EasyBCD or VistaBootPRO are both pieces of software I've used in the past and both are pretty self explantory and easy enough to use. Again BACKUP FIRST! Options to do so are in both programs. Also have your Vista CD handy aswell as it too will repair itself if you make a complete mess of things.
RE: Files still showing on C: but not in add/remove programs. My brother had similar when he decided to install Ubuntu to his Windows drive. His bootmenu fixed itself and the files appeared to have gone, but the install still showed up in add/remove programs. I guess Ubuntu fails when you dont install it on its own partition.
HTH.

Wubi seems kind of useless if you have to do all this malarky?
Unable to back up at the moment has my external HDD is dead. :\

Note the standalone uninstaller app in the event that the regular one doesn't do it cleanly

Thanks to you both. In directhex's link it said just delete the ubuntu folder in C:/ and then remove the entry from the bootloader, which I did from mehmeh's instructions using easyBCD.
Thank you so much to you both. Now vista isn't yelling at me about hdd space. Hehe.
Cheers!
