Spotify, An Alternative to Music Piracy

    What's everyone think to this?

    http://torrentfreak.com/spotify-an-a...piracy-090102/

First impressions say that it's a VERY smooth application. Both in the way it runs, and also in how fast a song starts.

Just a point to note incase anywhere from outside of the UK sees this.

It's only officially open to UK residents only. First time I've seen this way around - normally it's US only. It is only in beta at the moment I suppose .

So you'll need a proxy and a UK post code to register if you still feel the need.

Lol, The arguments down the bottom of that page are hillarious.

It's works well (other than the fact that the mp3s are low quality), but I don't see any adverts? How is it funded?

Shame you can't download them onto your ipod or mp3.

Yeah, let's see how it works with people on ISP's that routinely block/restrict P2P traffic, Virgin Media etc...

I don't think it exclusively uses P2P. Only when it needs to.

Virgin dont restrict P2P, they already said that and i havent seen any problems so it must be true.
Seems good but no adverts makes me wonder how its funded, if the major music companies agreed with this etc then where is the money for them?. If they up the quality to 200kbp/s+ then it will be great, seems a step forward imo.

I went here and was able to register fine!

I'm liking the vast collection of music available on it and the instant playback

    Last.FM support as well!

My only problem with the service so far some tag info for songs seems to be missing.. There are singles on the service for example that just have 4 tracks with the same name.

They do mine, on the occasions that I use it and have admitted they restrict traffic to 512kb/s if it's used. In reality, with other traffic issues my connection can be sub 50k. (Subject of an ongoing claim, by me).
