i currently have Vista Home premium and i am tempted to install Windows 7. is it safe to install the beta release or shall i waitfor the RC1 version? any bugs or issues so far?

Unless you're ready to, and interested in testing Windows 7, compatibility with your software, and reporting bugs. It probably isn't for you. Even the RC may not represent the final product. It definitely shouldn't be used as a stable OS replacement on your only computer.

Except for the fact its not a stable build.
Little things like the networking have known issues. Whilst its little more than a service pack, it is still more than just a service pack and changes have been made which can break things.
If its your ONLY OS/PC its not worth running the beta.

Also i've got strange issues with WMP and some codec's.
Still not been able to fathom, because it was able to generate a thumbnail, play the audio, but the video doesn't do anything.

I've been running at at work for a couple of weeks now - the only things i've had to do were the MP3 fix (hotfix) and delete a registry key (fixes installer woes). Other than that, it's been 100% reliable and will stay as my primary OS at work for some time to come
