How can I get Windows Photo Gallery to open just one picture?
XP's old Photo and fax(?) viewer things used to work a treat.
You've got a jpeg, you right click and View it with Picture Viewer. Sorted. You click NEXT for the next.
Not in Vista it seems. It opens my entire photo album, so looking at a single jpeg, involves gigs of photo's of my (very cute) little lad... but that's nto bleedin use to me, and takes time.
Can I get it to just work like the old Picture viewer?

answered myself...
rightclick and PREVIEW :)
Re: How can I get Windows Photo Gallery to open just one picture?
I've found Window Photo Gallery to be very sluggish so I've switched to IrfanView works brilliant. Might want to check it out.
Re: How can I get Windows Photo Gallery to open just one picture?
IRFANVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the bestest pic viewer over the last 10 years and then some
all hail the mighty power of Irfan!
Re: How can I get Windows Photo Gallery to open just one picture?
plus, the old XP pic & Fax viewer can do animated gifs.
the vista one CAN'T, yet it tries to play videos and of course sucks at it so it lags out every time i click the "next" button and it happens to be a video. i wish it just skipped the videos

Picassa's the same, chuffin annoying.
IrfanView is the no nonsense solution, used it for years :)

I always view single images like that unless I've got a few to flick through :)
I find it weird how animated GIF images though need to be viewed with IE in order for them to be animated.

you can flick through them with Preview... it's got a Next arrow, if they're in same file.

I HATE THIS BLOODY THING!!
When I get sent an email with some pictures in it, and I then forward it, wanting to delete some of those pictures, can I double click on the pictures individually to see them before deletion in the email format?
NO, I BLEEDIN CANT
It goes to the amazing WINDOWS PHOTO GALLERY AND DOESNT EVEN SHOW ME THE PICTURE I CLICKED ON.
Pile of poop

Re-set the file association back to photo viewer or whatever?

I can't, though it drives me mad. The Preview mode seems to be built into Windows Photo Gallery, so it's opening the right one, but it always defaults to the "here's every photo you own, you lucky man... " and then doesn't show me the one I clicked on.

[note to self]
INFRANVIEW REALLY IS AS GOOD AS THE HEXUS MASSIVE STATED...

Re: How can I get Windows Photo Gallery to open just one picture?
Another reason I really like IrfanView is that you can customize it so it just display the pic and nothing else. So you can get rid of all the menus, toolbars, caption, and just have a picture in a window. Really like it!

Nah, they're never in the same folder as I've got them inside folders for each month that goes by :)
