    Retrieving mail

as some may know my f1 has hit a skid. now i have got off most of what i want, but my main issue is the emails that are saved on the drive. is there an easy way of saving them and tried a solution i found on the mozilla forum but can't seem to get it to work? i can run t-bird from the drive through explorer but it only shows the mails that are on my back-up drive that i'm using.

would really like to save these before wiping and and installing a dual boot option.
