Wake from sleep when laptop lid is opened

Hey, can anyone tell me if is possible in vista to change the system preferences of what happens when a laptop lid is opened? I can alter the settings of what happens when the lid is closed but not when it is opened. I messed about with the powercfg options on the command prompt but no luck. I just recently got a Acer Aspire 8930G and i wanted to tweak it slightly, dont want to have to press the power button everytime i lift the lid to get the system to resume. I been doing a bit of reading online, some people mentioned that it might be hardware specific, can anyone confirm this?

I know my Asus doesn't wake when you open the lid, but hitting anything on the keyboard will wake it.

The more annoying this is the power button is the only way to start it from off or when hybernated. And I have a proken power button

If only that were so. It's an anoying slidey one that is surface mounted. Can get at the contacts to un solder it. Tried to find the traces for it to connect another one in parallel, but that wasn't happening either. Right now I need to use a sharp impliment to move the little plastic slider to power on

Anyway, this isn't helping the OP

I think you'd need hardware/bios support for it - it's not something Windows controls after all..
