    Web gallery making software

I run a small personal website about my grandad steam narrowboat, a main part of the site revolves around photos taken on trips and work on the boat which i currently turn into simple gallerys using "Arles Image Web Page Creator"
    - This is a great program and is quite flexable enough fo my need, but i would like to be able put short captions with each photo, and currently the only was of doing that is by altering all the file name, or editing the finshed pages. Both methods beeing slow and undesirable.

Does anyone have any better programs that would make this easyer?

I used a prog called Coppermine (i think) which was an extension on to a web app called PHP Nuke which is just a easy way to build a powerful site.... any way if you google it iam sure you'll find some php based code that you could put on ur pages and it will arrange all the pics with captions etc.. just make sure that your web server is php enabled. and easy wat to find this out is to upload a .php page and then try to view the page in your browser, if it asks you to download the php file then your server isnt enabled.

I used a program called Web Album Generator.

You can see a couple of examples of it being used on my incredibly crappy website http://www.roguesaber.co.uk/ - Just go to the photos section and click on one of the albums.

It allows you to add captions and the interface for creating the albums is extremely neat.

    Nope, I do that.

Takes longer but much more personalised and I find that premade modules and stuff seem to just give me no end of errors and confuse the hell out of me!

If you have the skills, yea it takes about an evening

My coding just isn't quite up to that sort of standard.

i prefer to cache them than generate them all on the fly - kills the server cpu otherwise

GD2 is less cpu intensive from what I understand.
