    Re: Ubuntu 9.04 is released

Cool, I will update my mini 9 when I get home. I just got it recently and replaced the slow bloaty XP that came on it with ubuntu- much better!

What is the best way to upgrade an install? Is there a sudo command?

That will only download and install updates for the same version of Ubuntu as you are currently running.

It is possible to update by editing you apt sources.list file, doing so will be messy. Instead you should if possible use one of the update tools described on the Ubuntu update page

    Better yet.

I don't use the distro often myself. Probably should have added that as a disclaimer.

    Re: Ubuntu 9.04 is released

I do have to say putting 8.10 on my mini 9 was good. I really do like the OS, it is very easy to tailor to what you want and as an email/browsing pairing they work really well!

    alt+f2

in the pop-up box put in 'update-manager -d'

Then you'll get the update manager it should say "new distribution available 9.04" if it doesn't press reload, then click install, it will download the needed files, install itself and uninstall the obsolete packages.

    Re: Ubuntu 9.04 is released

You know one of the things that annoy me about ubuntu releases?.. having to burn a gazillion different CDs for each different installation scenario. I wish they'd just pack the whole lot into a single DVD image and call it a day.

Interesting, I'll check it out, even though I'm much more hyped over the upcoming public RC of Windows 7 in a few days.
