Found Office 07 very stable and bug free - but will apply it anyway![]()
I've been having quite a lot of trouble lately with it crashing unpredictably, although to be fair the debug feature is excellent, and has recovered a fair number of documents for me in addition to autosaving.
The only thing that's really been hacking me off is how slow the bibliography feature on Word is, for such a simple looking database function it seems to be surprisingly demanding.
With a bit of luck the SP might help on at least one of two fronts! Cheers for the heads up dangel.
Stuck it on a few PCs late yesterday and not had a problem - pretty quick to install given the size of the darn thing!
Looks like Vista Service Pack 2 is done as well - although I can't see it on MSDN yet it has gone RTM.. SP2 for everything eh?![]()
I wonder if this will stop Outlook from loosing its connection to my exchange server.
Outlook stays responsive, just can't get data or update folder. Closing it doesn't end the process, so I have to kill that and open Outlook again. Everything is fine after that.
Another, slightly more annoying side effect of this though, is that it also kills MSN while it can't get data. You can't sign in, out, close convos, open new convos, etc.
Very strange.
Funkstar that sounds like something else rather than Office ... Computer firewalls interfering? Tried a re-install?
Happens on both my laptop and my desktop. Both are accessing a remote Exchange server.
Standard Vista firewall, Avast! for AV and fully patched and up to date.
If it was a firewall, why would that prevent Outlook from closing properly and me having to kill the process? When I do, Outlook is usually taking something like 130-150MB. Much more than normal.
It is also most likely to happen after resuming from sleep, but can happen at odd times too.
Mine won't install. Just says operation failed. Not sure what's going. KB articles say that means I don't have enough free space on the drive...
All my drives have 20GB+ free space.
I smell a nuke&install coming on.
Thanks for the reminder, coming down via windows update now![]()
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
Finally got this to install. Turns out some keys in the registry had the wrong permissons set. Couldn't even do a repair/re-install/uninstall. So used MSI Clean Up, corrected regsitry permissions and install 2007 with SP2 slipstreamed![]()
Installed on release day. Then I realised this SP2 would let me make PDFs natively. So I tried it out and found that using CutePDF as I had been doing gave me a PDF of about 17Kb. Using Office 2007 SP2's PDF feature gave me the same PDF file but at about 72Kb. So I tried the online publishing setting to see what reduction in file size I'd get. 70Kb.
CutePDF will stay on my system for a while longer methinks.![]()
i've been using cute PDF for a long time, and it great. if you can print it, you can PDF it![]()
