Slow boot, freezing upon booting up

Recently, I've been having alot of problems booting up. My computer's never experienced this in the year I've had it. It will open go to the "Abit: press TAB to start up, DEL setup" screen, then just freeze. I can press delete and tab all day long and nothing will happen. I have to power down and try again. Sometimes it gets to this screen, then 5 minutes later will continue. Other times I have to go into the bios (can't always do this) then come back out for it to work.

But the weirdest thing is that this seems totally random. Sometimes I will be totally fine for a week, then every time I try and boot up this will happen. Yesterday it took me half an hour to be able to boot up, today it was fine.

Anyone else experienced this?

I'[d run Memtest 86+ (googlr for it) and give the memory a good soak test first. I'd also do a virus scan.
