Vista is on ata-Maxtor_6Y160M. that drive has two partitions (vista/backup) vista is set active and other than a repair done by the vista install cd is the original boot sector/mbr.
Grub is on ata-Maxtor_6B200M0, with a /boot, swap, ext3 and a ntfs partition. My grub/menu.lst doesn't (yet) have a line for vista.
I have the vista drive as default in bios, and press ESC and the bios gives me a menu to chose the other disks.
I really don't understand this. I put linux on a completely separate drive to avoid these issues
