Do you find Vista that bad.
With Win7 getting closer everyone is saying how much better it seems to Vista and how Vista was crap.
personally i've never had a problem with it and it always seem pretty fast to me (could be down to me having a decent pc). I installed Win7 RC and i reckon that it loads slower than Vista as it seems to hang around loading process like anti viruses.
Personally i won't be jumping to upgrade to 7.
I think that everyone just jumped on the bandwagon that Vista was crap and didn't really try it out. It may have been when it first came out but it's matured a bit and it seems fine now.
What do you guys think.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
Nope, Vista (x64 Ultimate) has been ok for me all the way. I have no real issues with it.
I'm loth to use Win7 RC as a main OS because it means having to reinstall every goddamned thing when it expires.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
^Pretty much the same as the OiDster above.. :)
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
Vista was fine for me until it died :(
Needs reinstalling, but it\'s never going to get it seeing as win7 beta is nice and stable... well.. apart from a BSOD every time i disconnect my 360 controller

+1
I've not found any problems with Vista. I prefer it to XP.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
I quite like Vista 64 now that I have it... but whenever it boots, the first screen says it's resetting the boot drive.. dunno why.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
Some people think it's fun to point and laugh at all the 'idiots' who spent their money unnecessarily, thus lengthening their e-penis.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
Same here, Vista x64 ultimate has been on the PC a year, not one problem, no rebuilds needed and everything works for it. Vista is so good for me after using the Windows 7 RC I really can't see a reason to justify buying windows 7 at all.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
It's no more than linear progression - xp was good, vista was better and 7 is better still. When you think about it, that's not really that odd now is it?
7 just has the privelege of building on the Vista platform - and dodging the driver issues that dogged vista in it's youth. Vista now is very good, but that doesn't matter because the damage was done in that first year and it's almost obsolete with 7 just around the corner.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
+1 on 64 bit V, a massive improvement over xp, faster, smoother, much better overall
only annoyance was blackgold not releasing 64 bit single tuner drivers!!
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
Currently on Win7 but when I was on Vista, I really didn't see what the fuss was about. I found it much nicer than XP - more responsive, generally quicker loading and prettier. I'm of the opinion that Win7 is slightly slower than Vista but the difference is fairly negligible and I do prefer Win7's taskbar.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
I'm getting along much better with 7 in the early stages much more so than i did when Vista was released, but as others have said thats largly driver related. 7 is far less annoying than Vista. I'm still keeping XP on my older box dubbed 'old faithful'.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
Same as everyone else, never had a problem with Vista.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
I don't think there was ever really much wrong with Vista apart from the initial crappy driver support (not entirely MS's fault), which led to many people becoming justifiably annoyed, and others refusing ever to give it a fair crack simply on the basis of what they'd heard.
That said, Microsoft certainly learnt the lesson and have pulled off a masterstroke with their Windows 7 viral marketing (sorry, "beta testing") campaign - any early problems can be forgiven "because it's a beta", and I'm sure the release version will sell like hotcakes even before the RC expires...

Kind of true - I didn't try it because winXP already did the job I needed so there was no point upgrading. Now Win7 RC is free I can try Win7 for most of a year before deciding what OS to get with a possible new computer - but by then I expect the choice will be Windows 7 or Windows 7, so no point trying Vista.
Re: Do you find Vista that bad.
I used to love XP. Now I love Vista more than I ever did XP. Windows 7, from what I used of it in the beta and RC, looks to be even better still. Though I still like Vista enough that I don't feel that I have to have Windows 7 on release day (a good thing, in a way, as money is tight and I'm needing a video card upgrade before an OS upgrade. :P ).
