    OCR Software

Looking at something free if possible, or at least a decent trial I can have a play with.

If you've got MS Office the scanning tool which comes with it does a fairly good job of OCR, you don't have to scan, you can just load an image in. I was hunting round for ages at work for some OCR software until I realised I already had it.

    Re: OCR Software

I don't know if it varies with the package that you get but if you go into the Office Tools folder from the main Office folder in the start menu you should find a programme called Document Imaging.

From there you can load or scan images and select the 'recognise text using OCR' from the tools menu. Once that's done you can just highlight and copy & paste the text.
