    Edubuntu?

I just noticed for the first time that my laptop which has Ubuntu loaded on it starts up with a splash screen of "Edubuntu." Now, I'm absolutely 100% positive that I installed ubuntu on it, and not this other variation (which is meant to be used in schools... education ubuntu). I'm really confused now. When I download updates it's for Ubuntu. Everything looks and feels like Ubuntu.

Is it possible that I've actually been using an educational version of ubuntu for the past year without realising it ?

Possibly - does it matter? The only difference will probably be the applications that were preloaded - which will be mailnly for educational use.

    Re: Edubuntu?

There wasn't anything like that though. I think it's just got the edubuntu splash screen for some weird reason.

    Re: Edubuntu?

Probably a system update hickup. It happens with Ubuntu, on occasion. Force a reinstall of the ubuntu-desktop meta-package (I think that's it), and the old Ubuntu splash screen should return.
