boot time is the same, it did take 00 defrag a long time to put the files back in name order, so try a bloody good defrag

Vista SP3 is 'about' you know.

Don't believe me.. open vmmreg32.dll from Windows 7 in any old hex editor.

The resource section says Windows Vista SP3

I'll defrag using Perfect Disk & see if that improves boot time

Well done Microsoft you bunch of incompetent gits:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968279

So because I did a custom install using vLite thus removing heaps of the unnecessary baggage that Microsoft install that you don't want/need I am unable to install SP2.

    God these people annoy me!!!!!!!!!

I'd say your expectations are unreasonable. It's a bit much to think a service pack should work on a custom installation like that.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good

Not really. If an item isn't installed there is no need to update it. Just skip it and update the next item.

That'll be because it's not available through Windows Update yet - grab the stand alone version in the OP

Yeah I thought it wasn't, but according to post 10 it is. Evidently not the case then

EDIT: Or evidently MS can't quite commit...

I fail to see how that is Microsoft's fault. It's more your fault for using 3rd party software to modify the installation.

To be honest, I think they should do everyone a favour and find a way to integrate vLite into an advanced OS install menu. They'd obviously have the knowledge to do a far better job of it than a third party, and it would surely prevent all of these complaints about software being bundled in, if people have the opportunity to remove it.
