Scsi & IDE HDD on Win 2k

    Hi

We have an old office machine running win2k but need the programs on it. The main 2 HDD are scsi. I want to install an 3rd for storage an IDE. Do I have to set this drive up as a master or a slave? Will it work if the primary hard drives with the o/s on are scsi?

    Thanks

Re: Scsi & IDE HDD on Win 2k

What you propose should work just fine.

You would need to set the jumper pin on the IDE hard drive as Master. You could use the cable select option and plug it into the master IDE channel but I prefer to use configure the drive as it is intended (master or slave).

You should be able to select the boot drive in the BIOS thereby allowing you to boot from the SCSI hard drive and use the IDE drive as a storage drive.
