Tried it yet?
Any comments from anyone?
Re: pera 10 beta (codenamed Peregrine)
Much nicer looking interface
Wand passwords, can't get that to work properly, may just be me.
Re: pera 10 beta (codenamed Peregrine)
Not sure about Opera Turbo either
Also doesn't seem to play flash ads until you click on them.
Re: pera 10 beta (codenamed Peregrine)
Despite stating that it works better with Javascript heavy sites like Facebook, it completely fails at working with the Edit Profile section of Facebook.
Google Maps: you can now drag a route to change it, but there still isn't a right click context menu. I don't know if this would be a Google fix or an Opera one.
Oh and google maps do seem a lot quicker

Playing with it now, shows how much press it gets as I'd not even heard about this before checking out engadget! Seems failry quick, am i right in thinking you don't seem to get as much screen real-estate as firefox, for example I can have bookmarks open in FF & browse well but in opera it seems to take up so much room, I've removed the panel but cant seem to get a clickable bookmarks icon on my toolbar only a drop-down one?

Given the way flash ads on Hexus were killing browsers a couple of months ago, this sounds like a positive development to me ;)
Re: pera 10 beta (codenamed Peregrine)
Playing Flash without clicking does, IIRC, go against some silly patent. As scaryjim says, it's better to have the choice: I have some UserJS that stops [most] Flash from loading until I decide that I want it (doesn't work for U-Bend though :-( ).

haven't tried 10 yet but that's not the case in 9.
there are all sorts of ways of configuring how Opera looks, which toolbars are visible & what size etc.
Re: pera 10 beta (codenamed Peregrine)
Its the panel with bookmarks/widgets etc on it that takes up too much space, you can hide it at the side then click to bring it back but I don't want to do that.
I want one button on my toolbar which opens up my bookmarks at the side, with opera I don't see how to do this. I either have the panel hidden & open it then open bookmarks or I have a button on my toolbar which gives me a drop-dwon list of faves rather than opening them in the sidebar. :(

Firefox does everything I need it to so unless I find some killer use for opera I won't be bumping up their user nnumbers :)

well it's horses for courses - I never use any of the side panels at all which maximises the browser window.
personally I use the personal bar with different folders & subfolders for bookmarks (I have several thousand bookmarks) & that's always worked for me. Afaik that's something that FF can't do so if I swapped I would have to be prepared to change my habits too - just different ways to skin a cat ;)
Alternatively if you can remember the start of the url just start typing that in the address bar & Opera will retrieve it from your bookmarks :)
Now using Opera Mini on my mobile as well :geek:
