Windows internal messenger popups, spyware or other?

I've been getting popups on my pc for a few weeks now, every 10 minutes or so I get a windows message about some form of advert or porn, its using the system message system within windows. I also get an advert for www.spw3e.com telling me i have spyware on my PC, but, its in one of these popups too. I looked at the website and it appears to be another one of 'those' single page websites with all their eggs in one basket crap. In other words, they probably have a hand in this crap thats popping up on my PC!

I've tried adaware and SpyBot but neither detect it, where would this crap reside in my reg, anyone else come across it?

Get a firewall. Windows messenger service (not to be confused with MSN messenger) is turned on by default in XP and 2k I believe. Christ knows why.

I've already got a firewall built-in to my router. I don't want a software firewall, I need to remove this 'spyware'. I knows it NOT msn msngr, its windows system messenger.

Hows a firewall going to remove this 'bug', it wont and it can't its there to stop in and outbound traffic.

Use Adaware, Spybot S&D or Spyware Blaster. A quick google should root them out.

Spybot should be the one - Have you updated it? Click into internet then updates.

services
right click on messenger
set startup type to "disabled"

do as directhex said, i was gonna say that but well he's said it just means you cant netsend messages to people on the network
