    Win-7 32bit & 64bit for RAM Problem

    Hello friends,

    I want to ask about 32bit 64bit windows-7

I have c2q Q6600 on asus p5q and I’m using creative audigy sound card and xfx 8800gt and RAM is 4GB

Above hardware is running with windows-7 32bit and problem is that I can use only 3GB of my 4GB RAM

So I am planning to install 64bit windows-7 and later (when officially win-7 release) I will buy 64bit win-7 so that I can use full 4GB RAM

but I want to know about my system and sound card + display card -- are these card with work on win-7 64bit without any problem

2nd thing is about software running on my 32bit OS e.g. acdsee divx and other normal gaming + multimedia tools - is there any problem running these tools/app on win-7 64bit

Please help me since it will be my first time that I am going to use/install any 64bit OS

Thanks and sure I will get full support as usual

this needs to be moved to os and apps.

but the system you have should be fine with win7 64bit the only potention sticking point could be the audigy but i have one in my win7rc 64bit machine and it detected and installed the drivers fine. the nvidia drivers on 64-bit are rock solid.

In general everything "just works" - 64bit windows has a magic 32bit emulation layer which takes care of that transparently. Give it a go - it'll probably surprise you how little trouble you have.

for a bit more backup I have pretty much an identical system, asus p5ke-wifi, creative x-fi, q6600, 4gb ram and 64bit Vista/7 works very well indeed.

My audigy 2 also works fine with Win7 x64. No ALchemy support for the audigy from CL yet, but that's only an issue if you play old games a lot and want EAX support.

No huge loss, frankly. Creative want shooting these days.

Saying that, which Audigy is it? If it's anything less than, for example an audigy 2 ZS, I'd consider whipping it out and using your onboard.

It is an Audigy 2 ZS (proper HW mixer), it works great with ALSA.

But yeah, CL are sucking beyond reason these days.
