    Windows 7/Asus Mobo Software

    Hello everyone,

Got another question I'm afraid. I don't think this is a huge problem..

I'[ve just built my new PC and installed the RC Windows 7 x64. I've just tried to install some of my Mobo software and I got a message saying that the DVD isn't compatible with this version of Windows. I'm pretty sure my Mobo is compatible with x64 bit OS's because it supports 16GB or RAM.

I know I can't expect miracles with a RC OS and a spanking new system anyone got any idea what the problemmight be? There's acouple of bits of software on the disk I would really like.

    Cheers,

Have you looked at the Asus site, to see if there are any 64bit Vista version of the software?

Or you can try to run the installers in Vista compatibility mode - right click the .exe and choose compatability.

You can download the software + drivers from the asus website, but some of it doesent work properly. I had problems with pcprobe2 (displays temps + volts, etc) in order to get it to work I had to manually fiddle witht he driver signature to get it to work. Some details here

Am I the only one who thinks Asus's system apps suck? :/

I just use 3rd party generic system apps which tend to be less visually offensive and do the job better with less bloat.

The only thing I'm screwed with at the moment is the lack of 'X-Fi MB' support for Win7. But I'm happy enough with my aging Audigy 2 ZS.

    Re: Windows 7/Asus Mobo Software

I've never had any massive problems with ASUS's bundled software under Windows 2000 or XP. Didn't bother with it under 7 since all the drivers installed automatically, so I never even bothered putting the CDs in the drive (I'm not doing anything particularly stressing on that PC anyway, so don't really need the monitoring apps etc.)! But certainly under the older OSes everything seems to run smoothly.

    Thanks for replies everyone.

As my system is new I just wanted to keep an eye on CPU, fans, temps etc.

Can anyone recommend a 3rd party utility that enables you to monitor and adjudt CPU, fans, temps rpm's etc?

    THanks again

PC Wizard usually works great for me for grabbing system info. I usually do fan adjustments in the BIOS (but that's just me), PWM fans are also great for automatic adjustments.

+1 for PC Wizard. It usually ends up on my computers regardless of other tools I've installed, because it's a nice centralised place for system info.

Oh, and the current build works beautifully on Windows 7 x64

Nope, I can't stand them - the CD is usually binned when opening the packaging.
