    Kaspersky memory leak

Some of you might remember I posted a while back about RAM usage increasing to full usage when defragging/checksumming files in Steam on Vista but I've just noticed this also happens when downloading files on Windows 7 - all RAM is filled until the PF starts to get filled but it can be emptied by pausing the download. This stops happening if I turn off Kaspersky but disabling certain protection elements doesn't seem to help. I've not really noticed this before because I mainly downloaded on an XP computer which it didn't seem to effect. Another thing to note is when I check resource monitor nothing appears to be using anywhere near that amount of RAM. I'm almost certain this is a memory leak or something in Kaspersky but could anybody check if this happens to them and if anyone knows any solutions I'd be very grateful. To replicate this problem start downloading a relatively large file and watch RAM usage slowly increase in task manager.
    Thanks

    Re: Kaspersky memory leak

This has been a problem with Kaspersky since 2005 and the only thing I can recommend is using the recommended settings it seams to resolve the problem, although I would post this on their forum... http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php? also speak to support.

    hope this helps.

    Re: Kaspersky memory leak

Thanks I didn't know that. I thought at first it might have had something to do with hardware or Vista but now it's happening on another computer with 7 I was fairly sure it was Kaspersky or an incompatibility with Viata/7. I'll try the recommended settings but they aren't for of default now. I'll have a go at contacting support now...

    Re: Kaspersky memory leak

    No problem.

Yeah I used this when I was working in Bristol UK and had really major issues with the same problem as you are getting and was recommended to use the default settings and it worked. Although with the new 2010 version, which I think is a new engine. always the best source speak to support and get and insight from them.

    Re: Kaspersky memory leak

Not for me unfortunately - just tried resetting settings the doing a clean install but neither worked. I don't really want to try 2010 since people are saying it interferes with youtube videos among other things. Looks like I might switch to Eset once this license expires then!

    Re: Kaspersky memory leak

Any idea if this have been fixed in 2010? I'm reluctant to upgrade because of some of the problems people have been having but I would if the memory leak was fixed.
