Team Hexus just had a shot in the arm...

It's not showing yet mainly due to the farm having slight internet issues at the moment, however it won't be long. The whole farm total I'll be running now will look something like:

    18x iMac 3.04ghz C2D
    10x iMac 2.4ghz C2D
    3x iMac 1.83ghz CD
    1x Mac Pro 8 core 2.26ghz Nehalem
    1x PowerMac G5 dual 2.8ghz
    1x Toshiba laptop 2.5ghz C2D

There's also my PS3 and PC too, though run time on those is fairly limited.

Hopefully should be doubling my current production shortly once the internet link is finalised.

Re: Team Hexus just had a shot in the arm...

Impressive stuff. I keep thinking about starting folding on my 8800GTX, but I'm not sure I can afford the electricity bill!

EDIT: as an aside, does anyone know how much affect the base computer has if you use your GPU for doing this kind of maths intensive work? For instance, if I decided I wanted to fold 24/7 would it matter if I build an ultra-low power / spec base PC to put the 8800GTX in? Woudl I still get reasonable throughput?

An E2200 powered pc with 8800 GTX running 24/7 is all I fold on, tucked away in the corner of the office

Re: Team Hexus just had a shot in the arm...

so I could, theoretically of course , get a cheap AM2 mobo, sempron 140 and 1GB of RAM, pop the GTX in it, parcel it all up in a matx case, slip it under my desk at work, and pretend it was my dev server while it folded 24/7 on works electricity (not that I'd do that you understand - just theorising )

Ack! And for a week or two I was catching you up ... That's an awesome boost. I need to ask work for a few new dual Nehalem MacPros for the team ASAP.

Hehe, for the last few months I've been running on 'reserve' power so to speak to fully expected to be caught up a little. The farm is still not quite there since half of it isn't properly connected to the network and has to be baby sat forcing reconnects and stuff. Once that's sorted then it'll fly.

Re: Team Hexus just had a shot in the arm...

I feel like my server (I assume I can get a Linux client) which is a Core 2 Duo at... 2.2GHz? Gah... let me just uname -p it....

    Code:
    nightkhaos@deepspace9 ~ $ uname -p
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz
    ... yep 2.2GHz.

Anyway, I feel I could put my server up to this, considering it has 99% uptime.

Then there is my i7, see my system, but that has a less impressive uptime, and that's usually doing something important *cough* Games *hemhem*.

Of course the only problem with farming my server is that it has no CUDA enabled graphics card... so in that i7 is probably the only choice.
