Pretty sure the same goes for Vista.

Edit* Seems Imageshack doesn't like Hexus, there should be a picture in this post, if you can't see it click here or here's a raw link...

Well a comment like "That's wrong" would carry more weight if you substantiated it! Have you installed any of the mentioned operating systems on a partition of less than 15Gb? Can you quote an authoritative source to back up your assertion?

I haven't looked to see what the true case is, but if you are going to post, it is more helpful to the person asking the question if you can back it up, and adds to your credibility.

Monosyllabic questions like 'yes' aren't very helpful either, as the person asking is likely to come back and ask for further amplification - so why not expand on the answer in the first place?

I just installed it on a VM with a 15GB hard drive, can't you see the screenshot I took & uploaded to imageshack?

Memory capacity has a baring on HDD space requirements as well. Vista tends to be a little more rigid on that regard as well.

I didn't see it until I force refreshed this page, so others might not have either.

Probably Imageshack having it's usual brainfart with forum linking

Ah right cool. Never mind, **** happens. Water under the bridge and all that crap.

I would attach the pic as an attachment, but I can't? Do you have a gallery or something?

No, the image doesn't show (for me) - but if you had put that line of text in - it would have been sufficient.

That is very kind, but I suspect that the problem is my ISP - connecting via mobile broadband, and some sites (including imageshack) are blocked unless I VPN back through my home network.

However the principle remains the same - a simple one line explaining why you you believed that post was incorrect would have been sufficient.

    18G /media/WindowsVista/Windows/

If memory serves, the footprint at install time is somewhere between 12 and 15 gig for x64.

No, really. Two service packs and a variety of updates later, and it's filled up.

Windows 7 it seems you're right - although I'm not sure how it's shrunk rather than grown given Microsoft's love of including every single version of every single library ever.

Got you beat there. Been running this Vista with SP1 x64 since 13/12/2008, 01:31:49 and it's grown to a bloated 21GB

For Vista yeah, 7 is a little leaner in that respect I think.

Agreed, my WinSXS folder is just over 12GB only (for Vista x64). I guess they keep everything to reduce compatibility errors and make sure older programs don't break

Blimey, this is veering off-topic quite badly

fortune2k, how are you getting on?

Re: 4+ Operating Systems on 1 machine

It is possible as stated earlier put the oldest versions on the partition first. You could also use a 3rd party partition manager such as Acronis. If you just wanted to try an OS you could use virtual box.
