This thread is concerned with .CBR and .CBZ comic files. I'm sure there must be some of you who also scan your comics or image collections into this format for ease of use.
I use cdisplay. I think it's great. Clearly, the resultant files are based on either RAR (for .CBR) or ZIP (for .CBZ) archives.
HOWEVER, one feature I would really, really like to implement is the ability to use the first image file in the comic archive file as a thumb/ icon for that particular comic. For example, let's say there was a comic called "frogSpawn", I would want to use image "frogSpawn001.jpg" as the icon/ thumb view for that comic in explorer. This would mean that, using Large Icon view in Windows, you would be able to scan your comic collection by covers, as well as just by number, instead of just the standard cdisplay icon.
So, my question is: does anyone know of either
1) a comic reading app that does this
2) an app that may allow you to generate a preview of a RAR or ZIP collection of images, based on the first (sequentially) image in that archive?
Hopefully I've explained that clearly. I am aware of Comic Rack which allows you to preview covers INSIDE itself (not generated in Explorer) but I find it really, really slow, and can't get it to categorise properly. I would also be looking at integrating a cover-thumb-generating facility into Media Centre/ MediaBrowser some how so that comics could be accessed throguh those programs, but that will require me learning to program first![]()
