Windows 7 SSD users in here please.

    Hi guys..

Sales manager broke his HDD in his laptop again so I gave him the Scorpio out of mine and ordered a 30GB Agility to replace it.

    Works a treat

Are there any tweaks I should be doing or does 7 actually do it all when it realises that your on an SSD...?

Also, has anyone else noticed that windows stops loading while its playing the windows flag animation?
I was watching it boot yesterday and noticed that disk activity stops while the flag does its thing and then starts again once its done..
Wonder if theres a way to get rid of the flag and decrease boot times further...

Could have sworn there was a thread about this recently..

Short of it is Windows 7 largely does it all automatically.

Not true - the team explained this in their blog and W7 is definitely busy in parallel to showing the animation. Boot time decrease was a cornerstone goal for W7

    Read: http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/200...animation.aspx

There's also posts on SSD and W7. And the above is right -basically leave it alone they've got it covered.

Theres no disk light during the flag, then as soon as its finished the light comes back on, maybe they werent expecting people to actualyl notice

or maybe it's doing something else, like initialising hardware?

I'm pretty sure the disk is still busy for me during the anim - i'll watch the next time i reboot

Re: Windows 7 SSD users in here please.

I'm using a 32GB Samsung jobbie - the SLC one Novatech had on special a while ago. Works a treat and I haven't bothered tweaking anything specifically for the SSD - in fact all I've done with W7 is turn off a lot of the animation (when you min / max windows, fade in / out for menus, etc) but that's just because I find the delay annoys me. Also pretty sure my HDD light carries on flashing while the flag animation plays - maybe my PC is getting through any non-disc intesive task more quickly though?
