    Win7 discs

My current home network is a Vista 32-bit laptop (OEM Recovery disc only) and a Vista 64-bit desktop (OEM with disc and upgrade code to W7).

I have preordered the W7 retail disk for the laptop, and plan to use the key provided with the desktop so that both systems will be running W7, albeit one in 32-bit and one in 64. Amazon tells me that there are two discs (32 and 64 bit) in the pre-order package - Can I use one in each install ?

My question is - Can I re-use the discs coming for the laptop (32 bit) to upgrade the desktop 64-bit as well, and just re-enter the new key at the critical prompt ? Will the installer allow two installations if I have two keys ? Will the installer recognise that one is 32 bit and one 64 ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Win7 discs

The 32bit/64bit is no problem, the only problem might come if the upgrade media is different from the full retail media, which it might well be.

    Re: Win7 discs

Amazon tell me that there will be two discs in the box, although this is to be confirmed. So, if there are two, I should be able to use one in each system ?

    Re: Win7 discs

I very much doubt it. You get a license for one PC - you get two discs so you can choose from 32/64 bit.
Edit: Sorry, facepalm for not reading the OP properly! I'd assume you could use the disk as I think the software for OEM/retail is the same it's just the license that's difference but I could be wrong. Just try using the install disk with your original license key.

Only if you have a full retail license for the desktop as well. As I said, if the media for the upgrade license is different then you probably won't.
