Converting wmv file to play on DVD player

I need help - i am trying to convert a wmv video file to play on a dvd player. I first used windows dvd maker and the result would play on my PC but not the dvd player hooked up to the tv. I then tried AVS video convertor - i select the "to dvd" option and the result is an Audio_TS fiolder and a Video_TS folder with files. I burn these folders to DVD and the result is the same - plays back fine using my PC but when I try to play in my DVD player, I get an "unrecognized format" error. What am I doing wrong?

If PC can read the data properly maybe the disk itself is just unreadable.Have you tried other brand of disks? Correction of errors on PC's DVD is much higher than 'normal' player's
