    how to convert to DivX?

i come back from holiday not to long ago. i was mountain bikeing there....i had a helmet cam with me to record some of the action

the problem is the amera dumps raw video and audio not compressed at all. I got 8gig off it. The video is at 640 x 480 at 30fps. How do i get it to divX so that i can upload it to somewhere like youtube or fb? i tried some converters, i downloaded some expensiveones (as trials) and they seem to be dropping the quality of the video when they compress it.

i dont mind to what i compress it other than divX as long as it can be youtubed without quility loss and its reduced in size as much as possible

Re: how to convert to DivX?

I have used virtualdub for doing all my conversions to Xvid, it works very well and allows you to convert anything to can play into anything you can encode with any options, the downside it command line based, so a pain if you want to do lots of edits.

Re: how to convert to DivX?

DivX comes with its own basic converter that's good for home use.

Virtualdub or TMPGENC if you can afford it

Maybe even simpler solution...if you can import it using Windows Movie Maker -the program will do the job for you.You have a selection of output formats and even some editing options

i tried doing that, but that doesnt suport divx and if you choose those codecs in there it looses so much quality
