    windows vista oem pricing

    Hello,
one of my clients is thinking about getting a new computer. I said i could build them one. they said they would think about it for a few days.
Last time i checked vista home premium oem was £70 at scan. I checked today and its £90... wtf?
how long has vista home premum oem been £90?
since they only wanted a base pc i said i could build it for around £250. i managed to spec up all the parts on scan to get a complete tower and windows vista oem. to get that price i needed to find a case with a psu. it was £274 with seperate case and a cheap but decent psu (antec)

IMO you should get Windows 7 since it's cheaper and not an OEM licnse. You will be waiting for a while but you could use Linux/Win 7 RC for now.

Looking to install only Vista, or Vista with a view to upgrade to 7? If the former eBuyer have Vista Home Premium 64 bit OEM for £74.32 (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123067) and if the latter then Dabs are doing a similar deal but with the upgrade for £87.20 (http://www.dabs.com/products/microso...efs=4294951044)

EDIT - just a thought - when you say "client" I assume you mean that this would be a business transaction? If so... is it worth taking on the support of a system at this end of the market? Would it not possibly be better to point them in the direction of someone like Dell?

Didn't you/he download the RC? You can still get keys from the download page but the download is no longer hosted: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../download.aspx

I take it you don't have the iso saved anywhere then? I don't think it's double-legal to distribute it otherwise I'd send you a copy myself.

Just download the ISO, whats the worst that can happen, It's a legal key, no problems. Install the RC then just enter the proper key from this here when you get it.
