    Windows 7 Release Candidate

This may have already been answered but i couldnt seem to find it.

Basically, i want to install the windows 7 release candidate. I have my pre-order of of the OS coming on release day but, i want to know will i have to format my pc again with the full version of the OS or is there a way of just verifying that i have purchased the full OS?

Also... is going full 64bit advisable?

Well the official story is that you'll need to do a clean install but I believe there are ways of tricking it into performing an upgrade

    Thanks for the reply.

I dont really want to perform two formats within a couple of months. i do have a backup hard drive so its easy to do but something i would like to avoid.

What have you heard about tricking the system into an upgrade?

Personally, I wouldn't want to worry about any possible instability problems, or incompatible future updates that might crop up by going down this route.

    Re: Windows 7 Release Candidate

I forced an upgrade from the RC (build 7100) to the retail version (7600) on my work PC and er.. it didn't go well. It looked okay and then I released lots of stuff was pretty horribly borked. Reinstalled.
