My problem started when I restored a Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0.2160 to rewrite a image from the newly destroyed attempt at making a Raid 5 configuration but that’s another story. With that the system read the prepared disk and won't load the raid 5 on ICH 9R, for a fresh xp install. Don't know why.

So I found the hack/fix to do it from a single disk to raid configuration using Intel storage drivers and thought I would restore the image using Acronis.

But it loads and stops at the windows XP background, just after the boot screen and the user background screen.

When I says stops, it seems to be loading something and then jumps back as the screen flashes and the hard disk does the same read over and over again. I left it on all night doing this and it doesn’t go any further. I have read and found that wlnotify.dll could be the culprit which links to

services.msc and Event Log then making sure it’s started.

But I can't get in that far, to check for that.

The XP x64 has Verbose turned on and it does the same and identify that Wlnotify.dll is stuck.

So what now? I have Hiren's BootCD 9.8, so I should be able to get into the registry and turn that service on.

But doing that is all new to me and so where should I look for that and how do I turn that on?

Should it work, I hope the raid fix works.

Thanks to all.
