Sound Recording Application

Hey guys,


Hopefully an easy one for you... I need an application which can record sound from another application to a lossless format (Apple Lossless, AIFF, WAV etc) for me to import into my iTunes library.

I had an app in Mac OS X called 'Audio Hijack Pro' which done the job great, but now I'm switching to Windows 7 I need a new app.

Free would be nice but anything up to £40 would be fine.

Audacity will do the job fine.

With a Mac there's no way of (natively) recording the sound another application makes. Hence you need another app to do that (like Hijack).

With a PC, you can use any normal recording software (such as Audacity) and instead you must change the recording input to 'WAV' mode rather than the default Mic input. This will then record any sound the PC makes, so be sure not to have MSN Messenger or similar on when you're recording, since you'll get all the notification sounds and the like being recorded too!

Awesome, thanks Funkstar. Couldn't ask for more really, especially since its also free.

I'll just need to remeber and mute the sounds from other applications in the mixer when recording - thanks for that tip Lowe.
