    Shutdown Comments

Anyone actually put something constructive on these comments (Server 2003 and later)? Mine normally consist of

    Updates
    Power
    Cos I wanted to
    osujvbosaobgljme (Keyboard bashing)

    and the like.

    Re: Shutdown Comments

never bother to be honest, if I need to reboot a server its becuase its an emergency and thinking up a reason then typing it in takes too much time.

    Re: Shutdown Comments

I tend to stick in either "routine maintenance" or "installing updates". Then again, I only restart the server about once every six months because I have to walk the best part of a mile to get to it

Any other time the chances are I'm power cycling the server because something's crashed it horribly and I don't get to log in and shut it down cleanly anyway... *sigh*

    Re: Shutdown Comments

I love the unexpected shutdown reason box that I get presented with sometimes..

Totally pointless as I am generally logging in to find out why it went off...not knowing what the issue is, or be able to document it on logging in.

    Re: Shutdown Comments

    `/etc/init.d/${faultyservice} restart` is good 'nuff.
