How do i know which SATA driver to choose

I just purchase a custom PC (hardware only, no OS) and i'm having trouble installing win XP on the SATA hard disk.

I read on the internet which recommend the use of nlite to integrate the SATA driver onto the XP installation CD.

Would like to know how to know which SATA driver to use? I'm using MSI P45T-C51 MainBoard (Model MS-7519)

On the MSI drivers CD, there is a "RAID" folder which contain 3 folders "Intel, JMicron, Silicon_Image) and withing these folders, there are other sub-folders

I would like to know which driver i would need?

All six SATA ports on your motherboard are Intel-based. You want to find any folder with an "oeminfo.txt" file in it within the "intel" directory structure - preferably something with "ahci" in the name of the accompanying .sys file

Also, http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=do...1&prod_no=1838 is the board's URL

    SATA
    6 SATAII (SATA1~6) ports by IntelĀ® ICH10
Supports storage and data transfers at up to 3 Gb/s

No idea. I use a real OS - or at least one that wasn't released 8 years ago

Re: How do i know which SATA driver to choose

if you insist on using XP at least slipstream SP3.
if you have an old computer with a floopy drive just add the intel drivers to the floopy disc and at the start of xp install press f8 and browse to drivers on floopy disc. with a modern OS such as vista or 7 you can use a usb stick. but tbh modern os's have better driver support anyway.
i wish people would stop using XP on new rigs. get a modern OS! 7 comes out this month or if you can use linux.
