Security all-in-one with low HD write activity for a old SSD?

I have an early Samsung MLC SSD I originally bought for a XP laptop, but got too scared by all the random disk writes of Norton when I checked using Procmon so reverted back to the mechanial drive. As I didn't find away to reduce the random writes.

As Norton Internet Security 2009 is nearing expiry the user will probably want Norton 2010 as a replacement. At least the OEM version is pretty cheap at around £15. But are the other brands more suited to a short life span early SSD? Is Norton 2010 better than 2009 for random disk writes?

Probably don't want to spend more than £20 for a combined antivirus & firewall so that knocks NOD32 out.

Norton isn't the one I or most of the people on this forum would recommend. Give either Kaspersky or the free Microsoft Security Essentials a go.

I think the only people that recommend it are the trained monkeys in PC World.

I think most tech people tend to stay away from All-In-Ones entirely. I dont know about SSD write to be honest - but if you do want all in one then Kaspersky is a good bet - I have been using the beta on Windows 7 and seems decent and low resource.

Comodo (best known for their firewall) do an all-in-one too (AV, Firewall, Spyware), which is free so you could try it out easily and see if there are the disk writing problems.
