the heading more or less says it all i cant seem to map my c drive the way i used to which i found very handy
anyone know of a solution
Create sortcut and use admin share c$ to access your machine, path should read:
\\IP_or_Name\C$
Adrian
cheers i tried that but it wont let me access any of my drives on the win 7 machine it shows them but when i click on them it says acces denied
iv tried messing around with permissions etc but the win 7 machine doesnt have a password or anythin its just a storage box
things used to be so much easier
it showd the folder is sharing but i cant workout the permissions
do you really want to share the root of the drive, rather than a folder?
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
Do you have password protected sharing turned on in Win7? Check it via the Network & Sharing centre.
To activate administrative share you also need:
Folder Option -> Simple File Sharing (Disable it)
Administrator level account with a password
There are some occasion that it won't work on specific clients.

Admin Share on Vista
Maybe something similar for Win7?
The above link should work fine for Windows 7. Ive tried it and it works, along with the Registry edit.
The alternative way is to manually setup the shares
Right click the Folder or Drive -> Properties -> Sharing -> Advanced Sharing -> Enable Share this Folder and select a name. -> Apply/Ok
when mapping the drive on Vista specify the user/pass for the Win7 machine aswell
cheers guys but i wasnt bothering with a password the machine is just a 4tb file dump its not connected to the net or anything id prefer to do it without setting up passwords for powerup and powerdown when the servers not in use so it just boots up when i turn it on then i just wait a minute or so and transfer all my stuff onto it or create laptop backups
thanks for the replys i never got the notifications in my email for some reason i will try some of your suggestions above
i tried the usual method of sharing the c drive and its shared but it wont grant me full access to some of the folders like the users folders and windows folder
where i hide certain files if u know what i meanlol
That's probably the problem though, without a password it won't work.
Why don't you just set up a simple password, and then set the computer up to automatically logon with that password? Surely you wouldn't notice the difference?
