i know it's filling this section but couldn;t find a similar post to my query
upgrading from an old PC to a brand new rig but carrying over one of my old HD's - have xp (main OS) on an old one not being moved and vista on the one i am carrying over sitting on a 30gb partition (640gig total drive size).
obviously i'm reformatting the 30gb partition to cleanse the taint but should that be enough to install 64bit win7 (retail, don;t need to worry about upgrade) with a bit of space so large service packs etc. don't have trouble (box suggests 20gb for 64bit) ? also has anyone a good recommendation for how much space to partition aside for XP ? (XP takes around 10gb so 15 should be safe i think). idea is a partition for each OS for easy backup images/reinstalls and the rest of the HD's space for games, programmes and datas
while we're at it anyone knowing any handy tips or guides for setting a dualboot xp/win7 up would be appreciated, though i've read you stick XP on first then install win7 and it sorts out a prompt for you
thanks for any responses
