    www.grisoft.com - AVG - butt ugly interface but it does a good job.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    "best" is a hard quality to define when it comes to AV.

    in my view - best entails:

    - fast update rollout. Minimises vulnerable time
    - minimal impact. I dont want 100's of popups telling me how safe I am.
    - lieghtweight - I dont want to have to upgrade just to run it

    In an ideal world , we'd all use somethign like Messagelabs ( which is the "best" - but only for mail scanning )

    AVG is kez said is ugly but efficient. Updates on the free version clue be more rfrequent ( even if you do the patch to allow faster downloads ) However dont be a skinflint , shell out the £30 or so it costs for 2 years and enjoy a much happier experience.

    Check out the "What AV Software do you use?" thread, i have posted there about it. Basicly it kicks Norton/Symantec in the nuts by far, and it uses less resources.
