who still has got Win7 RC as the main OS?

Win 7 was released a while back and many off you seemed to have jumped in june / july time to pre order it. Just wondering is there anyone still on RC?

I pre-ordered one then to, it has already arrived just im a student and its back at home until xmas.

Anyone else still using RC, if so interesting to find out why?

NOTE: PLEASE DONT TURN THIS IN TO A WIN7 SALES THREAD

Re: who still has got Win7 RC as the main OS?

I have a mixture, I was running the RC on 4 of my machines, I find the data backup etc process a real drag which is the reason on some of my lesser used machines I may even wait until the shutdown in march.

With my main rig I have just bought an SSD, which as I'm adding another drive means the backups etc dont need to be as extensive. I have also switched my laptop from Vista straight to retail with no RC (as only bought it when retail was nearly released and got free upgrade)

Computers like my secondary laptop, mums PC etc wont get the treatment until the shutdown possibly, because I'm lazy.

Running the RC here, can't afford to upgrade atm. Probably get it around Christmas time, with student deal.

Re: who still has got Win7 RC as the main OS?

I've got 7 RC on my HTPC *and* my gaming machine.

On the HTPC, it's because I'm waiting for a shiny new SATA II drive before I do the install (I rebuilt my HTPC knowing that I was waiting for a pre-order of 7, so rather than get the new HD at the time I figured I'd save a bit of money and just use and old IDE HD I had lying around, getting the new HD when Win 7 was released. Of course, *now* I have less cash than I did in the summer... ).

On my gaming PC, it's because I moved it into the room that *will* be my office / study, and I haven't tidied up sufficiently in there to set any PCs up! However, since my retail copy is going on the HTPC and my wife's student upgrade will be going on her laptop, I still haven't decided whether the gaming machine is going back to XP, I'm going to shell out on an other retail copy, or I'm going to pick up an OEM version (possibly Pro or Ultimate). So for now, and the next few months at least, it'll probably be staying on the RC (is it March it'll starting shutting down? Better make my mind up by then!).

Re: who still has got Win7 RC as the main OS?

still using RC on both my machines, i have a pre-ordered version of home premium, and a free pro version from uni

gonna wait a while, possible even a few months, because the RC is extremely stable as completely useable. once i get a ssd and a new 1TB hard drive i'll install it but not before then!

I'm using the RC still. I have a full retail copy sitting next to me on my desk. Just sheer lazy inertia has prevented me from installing it. Does anyone know if the retail copy fixes issues with iTunes/ipod syncing and blackberry syncing?

Blackberry syncing worked fine on RC and in W7pro for me.

I still have Rc downloaded from microsoft on my desktop. I was not going to install my full copy until I update my system early next year! My mini 9 has W7 home premium installed on it, upgraded from XP. Its great!

Still using RC here, cant afford to get the RTM version due to me buying a bike and needing to fund repairs and stuff!.

Will get one later next year probably, all stable so far though!.

Have Win 7 RC on my Sony Vaio P11, but will probably wipe it and put Ubuntu or some other flavour on there - don't exactly want to splash out any cash on Win 7.

RC is perfectly legal for use until about June 2010. Hacking it so it works beyond that would be a different matter

Re: who still has got Win7 RC as the main OS?

Still have the RC on my main PC, my HTPC and my netbook. Bought 2 copies of home premium on pre-order which have been sitting in a drawer since they arrived. I'll 'upgrade' the main PC and HTPC - and probably downgrade my netbook back to XP - when I have a free weekend. I liked W7 on my netbook at first but it seems to have gotten a fair bit slower over time so I think I'll just go back to XP (in fact I might sell the netbook and get something a little bit bigger and faster).
