    Windows 7 Tweak Guide released

I've been a fan and user of this guy's Tweak Guides for years now and my windows XP is nicely optimised and customised to my liking with the help of his Windows XP guide. He has finally after months of work finished his Windows 7 guide. I can't recommend it highly enough if you want to understand more about windows and get more from your PC. I might even pay for the deluxe version ($4.50) after Christmas as a way of thanking him.

All his Windows tweaking companions: http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html

The other guides are worth a look too, though he has stopped doing game tweak guides.

Pretty extensive guide. I'll have to read more into what he suggests to "tweak" as I feel that Windows 7 runs like butter out of the box.

Not sure why he put his system specs in the guide? Has zero relevance to the OS.

Yup, most of what I've read elsewhere seems to suggest that by far the best "tweak" for Win 7 is "leave it alone".

Re: Windows 7 Tweak Guide released

To be honest, despite what he initially claims there really aren't any "performance tweaks" in the guide, as he readily admits that there's no need for them with Windows 7.

As a result, it's 400-odd pages of explaining menu options, services, the control panel, the new features in Windows 7, so on and so forth. Yes, the odd bit might be useful - if you really want to disable libraries or a service he tells you how to do it, but then in the same breath he strongly advises (rightly in my view) that you shouldn't.

I can't see why anybody who's well versed in computers (although admittedly a fair few aren't, based on all of the junkware tweaking programs that people pay for) would particularly benefit from this guide.

His game guides were fantastic though, very useful information to get every last drop of performance out of your graphics card - I'm fairly disappointed that he's given those up (if correct), they were something different to the rest of the web, unlike this Windows guide which is much more generic.
