I'm looking for a decent Windows based IM program. One that can handle Windows Live and Facebook. Twitter functionality would be nice as well.
I've had a look at Trillian Astra, and it's so fussy it makes me want to tear my lungs out.
Any other decent apps out there that can do that? On the Mac, I use Adium, which is by far the best IM client I've ever used, but sadly there isn't a Windows version.
Unfortunately there's no great multi-protocol client out there. A few of the Linux ones are ok, but obviously lack the full features of the proper clients. I just run multiple clients on Windows. Even on Linux I use the official Skype client instead of the experimental backbirth.

Adium == Pidgin w/ mac buttons. Underneath they're the same thing.
+1 for Pidgin for both Linux and windows at home (Reuters Messenger at work)
Thread revival - but I have to say after using Pidgin at work i've dumped it for Digsby - it's far more capable!
Big instant win: can add email account, it checks them for me and takes me right into the inbox in the browser of my choice (Opera) with no additional login. That's sex-tastic, much love.
It seems to integrate with er.. everything too. Clever. Much likey.

i dont even have windows live installed, im just using digsby....i used pidgin before and didnt like the GUI but i prefere digsby as its prettier but the principle is the same
our boiler broke so we has no heating or hot water, this is the bloody result ^^
