    HTML Editor

Can somebody please recommend a good freeware HTML editor (WYSIWYG). Tried Word 2007 but not happy with the bloatware. Also, with Word 2007 it is not easy to see the HTML code itself.

    Re: HTML Editor

I think visual studio must do some sort of express version that is free for HTML as the professional suite I use has one for websites. But to be honest I just code in notepad++ and see what it looks like in my web browser

    Aptana Studio (on eclipse platform)

Or if you want something more basic then I recommend notepad++ too.

    Re: HTML Editor

I'd add +1 each to both notepad++ and Visual Studio Express Web Edition (which I believe is what Growkin was trying to suggest ).

notepad++ is great for quickly opening up a file and changing a couple of lines, then refreshing in your browser - it's my main work tool for quick fixes and static HTML files. Visual Studio is obviously a massively powerful piece of software and will give you the WYSIWYG features you are after - it's my main work IDE. The Express Editions are completely free and very well featured. I don't use the WYSIWYG mode at work, but I've played with it at home a couple of times and it's not too bad (for a WYSIWYG HTML editor...)

Ooooh, a new toy to play with I'll have to put that on my new dev workstation and see how it compares to notepad++
