It may just be coincidence but it even made tuning the TV card easier, under 7 it had been very flakey and I spend hours trying to (often manually) tune in to the local multiplexes. Under XP it only took one go!
So anyway, hurray for XP and old technology. If you're planning to use Mediaportal it's a great piece of software but believe them when they say it isn't fully 7 compatible yet!
hmm... I used to use MediaPortal and, yes, it's a decent enough app in its own way, but Windows 7's own media centre is now good enough for me not to bother faffing around with anything else.
Hurray for Windows 7 and new technology! :)

Interesting difference of opinions, Ive played around with MediaPortal alot too, and to be honest the only downside was the amount of fiddly settings you need to get it exactly as you want it (thats a personal opinion i suppose others may find it a breeze), still a great bit of software, especially for the price. My current fav though is Imon, free with my pc case and just recently updated, full windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) support and a lovely nifty bit of simple software, streams from my NAS flawlessly, no 3rd party codecs to worry about and a real nice interface.

I did try MCE for a while, can't remember why I dumped it to be honest though it was probably something to do with getting some obscure formats to work or possibly integrating Blu-ray playback.
I've not tried Imon but I might if I ever get round to buying the Antec Veris that I'd like.

You can try it its free, i dont think you need the hardware as well in order to install it, but if it does you can always ORCA it
