    OpenDNS

I use firefox web browser due to the ad blocker and Xmarks plug ins being common to it across multiple platforms which allows me to keep all my machines synchronized at all times. Another favourite thing for me is the ability to type in a rough estimate at the site name hit enter and it just takes yout there. Recently... im not sure how but when i type the name of the site i want in the address bar it takes me to OpenDNS instead of straight to the site. Anyone any ideas how to fix this as i want my old functionality back!

    Re: OpenDNS

I had never been onto the openDNS website before in my life until this started happening so i wouldnt know my details to log into the service.

Where do those DNS settings go Stoo?

    Re: OpenDNS

Ah, seems OpenDNS have those things active by default then... If you go and register at their site you can change the settings, or alternatively try an alternative DNS provider as suggested by Stoo - setting those as your DNS will have Google serve your DNS lookups, rather than OpenDNS.

    Re: OpenDNS

that would depend on your OS, and if you're changing it on your PC or your router...

Google DNS doesn't have any of openDNS' fancy filtering options though yet.

so its not a browser setting its something thats got changed in my OS or the router?
Im guessing it must be the router then because both my PC and my Mac are doing it. Damn my annoying housemate!

Have play with the OpenDNS dashboard, if you dont have an account there, just sign up and setup your "network" you can then manage a whole host of settings for your network IP. Including disabling re-direction, and enable suggestions for URL.
