Windows 7 chkdsk due to Microsoft Security Essentials?

Since installing Windows 7, I've been having an almost daily chkdsk on boot. Every time that chkdsk runs, there are no problems found and it's only running due to the dirty bit being set on the disk as a result of Windows thinking that the file system is corrupt (you can see an NTFS error in the Event Viewer).

I read about Avira anti-virus causing this problem but I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials (although there is also talk about it being a Windows 7 problem that is simply exposed by Avira). Sure enough, I disabled MSE last weekend and the problem has not re-occurred since. I was concerned about a disk or controller issue, so I'm happy that it's not that, and it doesn't actually seem to be genuine file system corruption at all (I even did a full chkdsk check), but is anybody else seeing this with MSE on Windows 7?

You are not alone... I too encounter the same problem and really think it comes from MSE.
However there is no specific forums for MSE (angainst the fact Avira has one. :/)

I don't see the same problem personally as MSE and windows 7 get on fine here, but I know that MSE does stick its virus definition files all over the shop so perhaps that has something to do with it.

I'm running 7 64bit and avira, I'm not getting problems on my OS drive, but every time I reboot I get errors with the file system on my 2nd (storage) drive, but only when I try to write to it, reading works just fine. A quick error-check in windows sorts it out, but it is becoming tiresome doing this everytime I need to use it. do you think this is a similar error to what you are getting?

mm. yeah not personally but this sounds like the same thing that is happening to someone i know. will be having a look at sometime, nothing terrible but annoying after a while i guess.

they are using MSE / 7

There was an MSE update a few weeks ago, and since updating I have not had any more problems with chkdsk running.
