    Standby?

Well recently ive wanted to put my pc on standby and it just never seems to work, for some reason when i put it to standby it powers down and flashes once and then reboots back to login screen. Its as if its being woken up almost instantly, this is on windows 7 64bit.

Anyone got an idea why this happens?

    Re: Standby?

check the event viewer logs, logitech keyboards and other usb devices usually cause it.

also check S1&S3 mode is enabled in bios

    Re: Standby?

Go to cmd and type powercfg lastwake to see what caused the last system wake - should help you isolate the problem.

    Re: Standby?

Thanks Gonzo, i checked but S1&S3 is already enabled.
And now thankyou watercooled for telling me that, it has helped me isolate it which is to a usb connection.
    This is what i get:
    Instance Path: USB\ROOT_HUB\4&25175AC2&0
    Description: USB Root Hub
    Manufacturer: Standard USB Host Controller

Now any ideas on how to sort this out?

    Re: Standby?

Do you have a USB mouse? If you do it's likely that which is causing your problems, try this: go to power options, change plan setting for the selected plan, advanced settings and check that USB selective suspend is set to disable. Also go to mouse properties, hardware tab, properties, click the change settings button the go to the power management tab and make sure 'Allow this device to wake the computer' is disabled. Obviously this means you can't use your mouse to wake your computer from standby but some mice have a habit of moving the cursor without being touched which could be causing your problem.

This is definitely worth a try. I think my mouse randomly wakes my computer in the middle of the night, it probably detects some slight movement and kicks the computer into life.
