Angry Laptop \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll error. Can't install an OS!

    Hi all,

I have a humdinger for you guys.

I have an oldschool fujitsu s6220 notebook which was reading the following error when trying to boot into windows:

    STOP: c0000221 unkown Hard Error
    \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll

I tried reinstalling XP but when it gets to the starting windows phase (this is before I have even been given the choice of where to install it to or formatting drive partitions etc), I get the same error.

I have Put the hard drive into a caddy and it works fine. Even formatted it myself and put it back in but still get the same issue.

Also have tried a different hard drive in there and I am still getting the same problem.

I was thinking it might be BIOS or motherboard. If so I guess I should just let it go.

Any one seen this before or has any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Brent

Just sounds like a HDD controller issue. Make sure BIOS is set to IDE not ACHI.

Could be the port itself, which might have worked loose.
