I think they say Auslogics is a good one. There is also defraggler, made by the same people as Ccleaner. Not really used either so cant verify either way though.
+1
Its very good: Defraggler
I use jkdefrag for my XP box cause it was free and works fine. But don't vista already defrag your drives automatically ?
Smart Defrag

I would say careful with which defrag application you're using. I've had problem with some defrag tools that corrupt my files occasionally. And that pretty much stopped me from defragging nowadays.
Have enough HDDs so if I ever want to defrag I just move all files out of a HDD, format partition then move back.

a third +1 for defraggler
so +3 now lol
mydefrag (formerly jkdefrag) - I tried loads, this was the best by miles, especially for customisability.
Another +1 for Defraggler ^_^
+1 defraggler, simple to use especially for seeing your game files and defragging them.
alsenior posted "O&O Defrag Pro edition free" maybe worth a look.
Hearing very good things about Defraggler.
My system is mainly used for gaming too, and an alternative to (repreatedly) defragging volumes after uninstalling huge games that I use is to set up mount points instead.
Here's a blog entry I wrote on disk performance too, which goes through the steps to create a folder which is actually on a different volume.
And here's what my current disk layout looks like - very wasteful if you look at the free space per volume, but such is the price of performance (I use a separate server for data storage):
It's not a solution for everyone, some object pickers don't like mount points so you end up having to install to the "real" folder path and then do some renaming & file moving after installation to get the data where you want.
But for me the ability to uninstall a game, then just format the volume and delete the mount point ready for re-use is very handy.
~ I have CDO. It's like OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. ~

^ Looks very interesting, but appears to be a bit complicated, and also is too much work for someone as lazyas I am.
I have 4 HDDs in the rig at this time: a 640 GB and three 500 GB, all unpartioned; I use a commercial automatic defragmenter on full auto defrag so I never have to do any defrag 'maintenance' (it also has a feature that prevents a lot of the fragmentation). It works like a charm since I don't have to do anything even after a significant file addition/modification/deletion event.
PS: BTW most of the free defraggers are essentially reskinned versions of the windows defragger with a better GUI, and exhibit the same 'drawbacks' such as the inability to defrag system files like the MFT.
@Paul
thats a really cool set upbut too complicated for me to try atm.
I am currently trying to clean up my work laptop. it has win vista 64 on it and i use O&O 10 proffesional.
however, it wont defrag page files that are heavily fragmented. How can i clean these up or get rid of them if pos.
cheers
