13th July 2010 - W2K unsupported, W2K3 enters extended support
This is not new information, but worth reiterating now in case people have missed it...
From 13th July this year, Windows 2000 will not receive any further updates, and Windows Server 2003 enters its "extended support" phase which means only applicable security updates will be released for this product.
Microsoft Support Lifecycle
It has also been confirmed that there will not be a Service Pack 3 for Windows Server 2003.

Shame about SP3 :(
Has for Win2k, might explain why they has been a push by projects to get all Win2k machines either inplace upgrade to XP or replaced with new kit.

Yeah, the company I work for are doing their best to get rid of any remaining W2K servers. We'll be migrating our DCs to Windows Server 2008 R2 this year as well. Moving from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 is our current ongoing project. Over 8000 users, it's going to be fun!

I doubt it. There was a recent release of Power Pack 3 for WHS in Nov 2009. It works great on VERY low end hardware. It meets the needs of digital media sharing and backups.

There is bound to be, it's just a case of when.
There is no way they will want to maintain that code base for WHS when W2K3 has entered extended support.
I'll need to bring this up at work. We could do with upgrading our server.... well, mainly our exchange server, but ti would make sense to do the whole lot at one time.

There is no code base to maintain. WHS has been updated with Power Pack updates. It doesn't receive patches like Windows Server 2003 does.
Re: 13th July 2010 - W2K unsupported, W2K3 enters extended support
it still receives updates via the windows update mechanism. the power packs are very similar to service packs
