    Lightbulb Windows 7 GodMode

    Dead easy to do this one, create a folder on your desktop and name it :

    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    When you hit return it turns into an icon rather than folder. When you open it up all the settings you could possibly need is in there. So instead of having to dig around in the control panel and sub directories, you can open this up and do what you need with ease.

    It is actually easier just to type what you want in control panel search box or start menu search box. Indexing will bring it up instantly.

    Or if you want this so called "GodMode" a shortcut on your start menu/taskbar, just do this...

    Code:
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
    and then pin to your taskbar.

    And you don't have to have "GodMode." you can have "Whatever.<random chars>".

    Nice to see all the useful options in one place, often wondered why something like this wasn't included by default. Thanks.

    Because searching for it is much faster and easier.

    I concur. It might be useful to see all the options but it's nothing that Windows Search cannot find in a few seconds.

    Depends if you know what to search for.

    I just like to have a look at what I can tinker with.

    Windows 7 is damn smart, even a general keyword will bring up what you want

    Just type in what you want to change. Want to change screen size? Most people won't know to use Screen Resolution by right clicking on Desktop or even searching for "Display". Type in "change screen size" and *POOF!* Adjust screen resolution is the #1 search result.

    It's not a stupid search. It's a VERY smart searching capability. Microsoft did an excellent job making Windows 7 simpler for even the dumbest people to use.

    IMO we really shouldn't show people what they can and cannot tinker with in Windows. The last thing you want is someone changing something that they shouldn't.

    I find the search really useful for most stuff but being able to see what all my options are in one place is awesome. Thanks for this!

    Re: Windows 7 GodMode

    Do you mean it doesn't work on x64 or it does work but it breaks things?

    Any idea if it works on Win7 x64?

    It works fine on Windows 7 x64. But it does not work on Windows Vista x64. Interestingly enough this is already built-in Windows 7 as I discovered last night

    Ah thanks. I deal with a lot of OSs at work and it's good to know which I can use it on without embarassing myself in front of clients
